A Heart of Gratitude: Embracing Life’s Blessings This Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, so why don’t we take a moment to think over our lives and count our blessings? Every day is a gift from God, and we should never take that for granted. As we go about our normal day-to-day routines, God is always watching over us. Each meal we eat and every sip of water we drink is a blessing from Him.

Sometimes, we forget to thank God for what seem like the small things in life until they’re gone. Imagine how life would be if God only gave us the things we remembered to thank Him for. No blessing, whether big or small, should go unnoticed. Let’s make it a habit to thank God for everything He provides and blesses us with.

You could start a gratitude journal and take a few minutes each day to write down and count your blessings. As Thanksgiving approaches, let’s have attitudes of gratitude. Let’s also take some time to reach out to the people in our lives that we’re grateful for and let them know how much we appreciate them.

Life isn’t just about receiving blessings—it’s about being a blessing. Take a moment to look at your life. Have you been a blessing to others? If not, now is the perfect time to start. Being a blessing doesn’t have to be something big. It could be as simple as being a listening ear to a friend in need, putting others first, letting someone with fewer items go ahead of you in line, or helping an elderly person unload their groceries. Small gestures often make the biggest difference in someone’s life.

This Thanksgiving let’s reflect on how good God has been to us throughout the year. Thanksgiving isn’t just about the delicious food though I’m definitely looking forward to my mom’s amazing plant-based macaroni and cheese! But most of all, let’s keep a prayer of praise in our hearts and our minds focused on God, the greatest blessing of all.

"O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever."
Psalm 107:1

Happy Thanksgiving!
